Sun catchers.

We made sun catchers for Mother’s Day presents for our extended family – grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. They were super easy and fun to make.

What you need:
Modge Podge (or similar) in glassy finish
Tissue paper of various colors
Wax paper
Paint brush

Tear the tissue paper into strips and shapes of various sizes. We found that 1-2 inches was the ideal length.

Lay the wax paper down on the table and use a paint brush to cover the surface in Modge Podge.

While it I still wet, lay down the tissue paper. Cover the wax paper as much a you want- or don’t.

Cover with Modge Podge. It is okay of some of the tissue paper gets wrinkles in it. It looks nice to have some texture.

When that layer dries, do 2 more layers of Modge Podge. The picture at the top is of the last layer drying.

When dry, flip over and do 2 more layers of Modge Podge on the opposite side.

When it is all dry, cut into desired shapes and ping a hole on the top for the ribbon to go through. Then hang them somewhere.

My kids did everything but the layering of Modge Podge. We used sparkly Modge Podge for one layer on each side so they would sparkle.

They turned out nice and it was a fun project that both kids participated in.
